Since 1998, Rent BC has been solving the adage 'there has to be a better way to find a rental place than the newspaper'. By utilizing the burgeoning Internet to allow landlords to post their rental vacancies and tenants to easily search for their ideal new home by area, price & property type, absolutely free, we were able to provide a better experience for both landlords & tenants. The use of longer descriptions & photos took the guess-work out of house hunting.
So you may ask, what the heck is a private luxury residence? Well after living in Europe and traveling Scotland 10 years ago, I got the bright idea to try and create a Canadian castle and a group living environment.
I'm born and raised in Kelowna, and I know it isn't the easiest town to meet people in. I've always been passionate about being surrounded by good people and interesting people. And that's why I created this castle concept when I returned to my hometown.
The Bates Manor is a place where people can join a community of residents and friends of the house, enjoy others company in common areas and still have their own space, its a place which has many amenities and has ultimately created a community of caring awesome people.
We rent private rooms and couples rooms and try to keep an even split of males and females in the house. Everything runs on respect, quiet times, personal space and food are all sacred areas and have never been an issue amongst our residents.
Some of our amenities include a projection screen theater, hot tub, bar and games room, pond/waterfall, organic garden and outdoor living area, professional grade indoor gym, music room, huge common kitchen and dinning room seating for 40 people. And yes, there are a lot of big sweet castle style feasts.
The average age range is between 20 to 31 years old, and we are blessed to have interesting and totally awesome room mates. We have created a unique lifestyle which really works (and live in a clean house, we have weekly maids).

Our house burnt down 3 years ago so the current Manor is pretty new and a little better designed this time. Its been a hell of a ride so far, who knows maybe we will live together?
